Let me start by saying – what an amazing venue it is! It was my honor capturing Shannon’s and Clifton’s special day at the Harold Washington Library All the way at the 9th floor, this winter garden with glass-paneled dome and so much natural light, made my jaw drop.
Bride and groom decided not to see each other before ceremony, and since the wedding was during the winter, we didn’t get to take any pictures of them together with natural light at the venue or outside. Ceremony started after the sunset.
We met Shannon at the Hilton hotel, took some detail shots, also fun pictures with bridesmaids and brides men. What a fun group of family and friends. Last minute, we decided to walk 10 minutes to the venue and take pictures as we go, pop some Champagne, make memories and have fun. Those were the only daytime pictures and I’m glad we took them.
As much as everyone wants candid, documentary, editorial shots, every bride NEEDS TO HAVE a few traditional portraits of herself on her wedding day. If not for her, then for future generations. One day, grandkids will want to look at grandma’s wedding pictures and see her face, how she looked like, and not artsy, blurry, trendy picture of her back. I make sure to spend some time and take those pictures.
The rest of the day we spent at the beautiful venue. Ceremony was so emotional, so many tears, so many laughter. Family and friends came to celebrate Shannon’s and Clifton’s love. Music was amazing, everyone were on their feet dancing all night. Truly a night to remember.
Every Venue has their own rules, and not everything is allowed. Bride and Groom ordered a bunch of Confetti Cannons for entrance, but since we couldn’t use it indoors, we took it outside! And it turned out perfect!
